scary thought

i decided a week or so to publicly acknowledge i have a blog when asked. i think i added my addy to yelp and a few craft sites. i've noticed lately that my counter has GREATLY increased. so hooray for more traffic.

who is actually reading this? i wonder. is my blog somewhat interesting? if i stumbled across it, would i give it a second glance?

nah.

best article i've read this month

Seth MacFarlane: 'Stewie Griffin Gay, And The Parents TV Council Can Blow Me If They Don't Like It'

The Advocate cornered Seth MacFarlane, the multi-talented creator of venerable envelope-nudging Fox animated hit The Family Guy, for an off-the-velvet-cuff conversation about how homosexuality figures into his own brand of flashback-reliant comedy. Despite an affection for musical numbers that would suggest otherwise, MacFarlane is straight. Still, he's had the opportunity to explore his same-sex-loving side through his voicing of Family favorite Stewie, who's evolved in recent seasons from a nefarious infant hellbent on world domination, into perhaps the only TV diaper-pooper grappling with his own sexual identity. Some highlights from the highly entertaining exchange follow, including a graphic proposition for frequently outraged Family-monitors, The Parents Television Council:

The Advocate: The Parents Television Council voted the episode, along with many others, "Worst TV Show of the Week." Do you appreciate that honor?

Seth MacFarlane: Oh, yeah. That's like getting hate mail from Hitler. They're literally terrible human beings. I've read their newsletter, I've visited their website, and they're just rotten to the core. For an organization that prides itself on Christian values--I mean, I'm an atheist, so what do I know?--they spend their entire day hating people. They can all suck my dick as far as I'm concerned.

my saturday night project

so i bailed on a late night concert at emo's in 28 degree weather to stay at home and make this babydoll.

she was supposed to be a completely different hat but the head round was too wide and my puffy stitches were too many. i went ahead and turned her into a slouchy!

geez i look so emo in the pic. i had to take it myself in the bathroom hence the "myspace profile pic" look.

FYI...using your iphone to take self-pics in not easy.

crochet crazy

here are some more projects i did a few weeks ago. i've been working on some more intensive hats/gloves so i haven't completed much. but don't you worry. i will be done soon.

i like to call this one the OSU pom pom hat. matt has to wear it every game for good luck.

i really don't like this one on me. i might give this away as i'm not 100% happy about the ear flaps.

motherly instincts kicking in...

before i get into my ritual of wedding talk let's mention my new maternal instincts that kicked into gear last night.

i took colotte to the vet last week for her yearly. everything seemed fine, then friday the vet calls me and says her kidney levels are high and wants to see her again for re-testing. the vet doesn't want to wait for tues morning (when she has another appointment for a teeth cleaning) but wants her in ASAP. so i bring her in early saturday morning for a urinalysis.

she's totally normal during the morning, the drive to and from. but as the day progresses i can tell she isn't right. colotte follows me everywhere in the house. she also eats her food like its her last meal. she was not hungry. she wouldn't drink milk or water. she wasn't grooming herself or meowing.

so i got depressed and pulled her into the bed with me and stayed with her all night. i knew she was sad and it made me cry. i was upset b/c she was acting so lethargic and moody. i hoped that a good nights sleep would help her forget the vet visit and bring her back to normal.

all night i had bad dreams about colotte. i was so worried to wake up and see her under the bed or worse, refusing her food.

but this morning i hear her jump on the bed and she crawls on my chest, giving me kisses! hooray...that's the colotte i love. i take her down to the floor and she chases me to her food bowl and begins to meow.

now everything is happily back to normal.

the light at the end of the tunnel

may be approaching. this upcoming friday i sit down with the parents and tell them the total estimated cost for the wedding i want. then they will tell me what they plan on giving me. this is not an easy task by any means. i have no idea what the rest of the wedding will cost! i don't know anything about florals. we haven't even agreed on a honeymoon spot. so i have 5 days to hash out a total. ugghhh!

decisions, decisions

here's a little wedding update. my parents checked out a few places with me and basically my mom hated barr mansion. i hated the texas union hall and we all loved the driskill. i wish they would give me a dollar amount so we can book something but they want me to continue looking around. i'm waiting on the four seasons to confirm an appointment (they haven't been very prompt in answering my emails so i'm not too happy already.) but at least i can give my parents exact costs on these wedding venue packages and hopefully get the damn ball rolling.

but we really love the driskill. it's so polished and beautiful. the price for the package we want is INCREDIBLY reasonable. it's practically the same price as barr mansion.

this is where we would have the wedding ceremony.

this is the second floor of the victorian room.

first level of the victorian room.

we will have the reception in the victorian room - 2 levels

so lovely.
