Back into the swing of things!

This weekend I finally picked my hook back up and made myself crochet once again. What I needed to get back into the crafty mode is a project - and what could be more fun than doing something for my sister? Picking a favorite pattern for Ravelry I had been eyeing for about a year, I tried a few variation of patterns and frogged it more than once, but I quickly got the hang of it. Hello crochet, I missed you.

I chose the colors in Heather's nursery and hopefully will be able to finish this star blanket by the weekend. It's pretty simple once you get past the first 10 rounds, then just just add to it. Up next - one for me of course!

scarf crazy

Due to my week long illness, I went a little crazy with my free time. I made some scarves - I haven't had time to put these on my etsy site, but they are available if you'd like one. I'm working on 3 more that will be done by the end of the week. I'll throw those up too.

This one if my absolute favorite. It's so long and thick. You can wrap it like 3 times and still look cute. Believe me, I tried it on the boys and they even liked it.

This scarf was made with sock yarn. It's incredibly soft and delicate. It only wraps once.
This one is a bit on the short side. It would look good to just hang. But the colors are so pretty.

See what happens when I don't eat for 8 days?

So I got crafty this weekend and looky what I did. I'm going to throw them into my etsy shop as soon as I get a few more done. These pictures don't do the colors justice, I was too lazy to color correct and actually use a decent background. But that red hat is freaking fabulous. Actually they all are. I wouldn't mind if they don't sell. I'll keep them all for myself.

See something you like? Let me know and I will reserve it for you and knock off a little from the price.

Cinco de Mayo creativity

I knew I was going to celebrate tonight, so I had a desire to create something festive. So my brain begins to churn and I look thru an old Stitch and Bitch book and then I find it. A perfect pattern for a clutch. I change it up a bit and make it the colors of the Mexican flag and add a Frida Kahlo button to make my flower pin complete.

I need to add a lining and a snap button to keep it closed.... but that's for another day.

New project alert

The past few days I have been working on a special project for a certain someone, so I haven't had a chance to completely engross myself in a new idea. Since I finished the first project yesterday, which I will show off later, I've moved onto making plarn.

Plarn is plastic bag yarn.

Right now I'm working on crocheting a market bag.

It's really difficult to work with plastic bags. It's not as flexible as yarn and kinda makes my hands hurt after a few hours.  But I can't wait for the finished product.  And thank you Sara for all the plastic bags last night.  I'll whip you guys up a bag soon!

Today is Day 5 of my Cleanse.  I am super proud of myself for going to a party last night and NOT consuming any alcohol or bad food.  I was pretty close to staying at home, due to the whale songs in my tummy, but I pushed through it and had a nice time.  You don't need booze to enjoy yourself.  Actually, I do.  I can only remain sober in a party environment for so long.  Today is a new powder day.  It tastes pretty bad and has an interesting greenish tint.  So far, so good.  I hope I'm not sitting on the toilet all day.  It's so nice outside.  But I am tempted by the 2 dvds of Dexter I have waiting for us to enjoy.  I love Dexter.  Can't wait to start up Season 3.

I'm going cozy crazy!

I can't stop making these Iphone/Ipod cozies.  They are quick to whip up, and only takes a few hours if I can concentrate on finishing it up without wandering away to another project.

I scored some super cute buttons and can't wait to match my cozies to them.  I've thrown up 2 on my Etsy site already.  I love the colors!  So bright and fun.  I better throw in an emo cozy just in case.

Sales have pretty much died from my Etsy site.  I figured as much with summer approaching. Time to switch gears and try to figure out something that won't make you sweat to death.  I did create a few head scarves, but wore them way too much so I can't sell them.  Maybe I'll crank out a few.  They are awesome.  Great way to keep your scalp from burning.

Ok time for bed.

My HUGE WIP

For all of you normal, non-craft geeks who are confused by the term above, it is:  Work In Progress.

I honestly don't have very many lying around as I hate to not finish a project.  But I have one. It's a big one.  Last year I wanted to make a festival blanket for Matt around ACL time.  It did not get done due to my lack of motivation during the Summer.  But now I am renewed. Hopefully I can get this one done soon and move onto my next plan.  Here is an photo example of my upcoming project.

This is called a starghan. You can do any color combination imaginable. I haven't figured out which colors I want to try and if I should sell it or keep it for myself. It would be a fabulous baby gift I suppose.

Here is Matt's festival blanket.  It's getting there.  Eventually.  Hopefully.  Soon.

I'm Gonna Do It!

It's about time to set up shop.  An Etsy shop that is.  I've been mulling the idea over in my head for months and debating if my craft is worth selling.  Lately, I have been improving in my pattern reading and skills so I'm going to make the plunge!  It's time to reap in the benefits of my creativity and available extra hours.

Soon it will be time for me to go into hibernation and create.  I'll let you know when I set things up.
